What is a transit chart?
A transit chart compares the current or selected positions of the planets with the positions in your natal chart at birth. It is the working map behind a transits astrology chart: not a second birth chart, and not a sky wheel on its own. You use it to see which planetary transits are in range on a given day.
Your natal chart stays fixed, while transiting planets continue moving through the zodiac. Natal Sun is a reference point. Transit Saturn is a moving body. The angular relationship between them is the transit aspect — conjunction, opposition, square, trine, or sextile. Tight orbs matter more than a long list of wide contacts.
An astrological transit chart is how astrologers time those contacts. Choose a date, overlay that sky on the birth chart, then read which natal planets and houses are activated. This calculator uses the Western tropical zodiac. It does not calculate Vedic or sidereal gochar charts.

How your birth chart and transits work together
Your birth chart and transits are read together. The natal chart provides the fixed reference points, while current transiting planets show the timing of active themes. A transit birth chart is that comparison on one wheel.
Without the natal chart, current planetary transits are just the sky. Without transits, the birth chart has no clock. The personal transit chart is the two read as one figure. See transit chart vs natal chart for the side-by-side difference.

Current astrology transits
These are current planetary transits in the sky — planet to planet — not transits to your natal chart. Your current transit chart still needs your birth data.

How to read your transit chart
Use this order on every chart. Tight, slow, hard aspects first; houses and applying/separating second.
- 01Look for tight orbsStart with aspects inside 1°. The closer to exact, the louder the transit.
- 02Prioritize slow-moving planetsSaturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto time longer chapters than the Moon or Mercury.
- 03Check conjunctions, squares and oppositionsThese hard aspects usually describe pressure and events before trines and sextiles.
- 04See which natal planet is activatedThe natal planet is the part of life being asked to respond — Sun, Moon, ruler of the chart, and so on.
- 05Check the natal house involvedThe house shows where the transit lands: work, home, relationships, or the body of the chart.
- 06Note whether the aspect is applying or separatingApplying is still building. Separating has peaked and is fading.
