About
About Transit Chart
Transit Chart is a free calculator for Western tropical astrology. It overlays the moving sky on a natal chart so you can see which transit aspects are active on a date you choose.
Most people meet astrology as a birth chart — a fixed map of the sky at the moment they were born. That map does not change. What does change is the sky around it. A transit chart is the comparison: natal positions held still, transiting planets drawn for today, tomorrow, or any custom date, with the angles between them named and measured.
That comparison is what this site is for. The homepage transit chart calculator shows how current or chosen planetary movements meet your birth chart. For the fixed map versus the moving sky, see transit chart vs natal chart; current transits follows today’s shared sky. Guides on method and aspects are linked below. You can use the tool without an appointment, a subscription, or a long lesson before the first result.
What the calculator does
You enter a date of birth, optional birth time, and birthplace, then pick a transit date. The calculator builds your natal chart, places the planets for that transit moment, and lists transit-to-natal aspects with orbs. When you include a birth time, it also shows which natal houses the transiting planets move through, and can include the Ascendant and Midheaven.
A full result typically includes:
- Planetary positions for both your birth chart and the transit sky
- Major aspects — conjunction, opposition, square, trine, sextile — with orb and whether each contact is applying or separating
- The strongest contacts first: tight orbs and slower planets rise above wide or fleeting ones
- House activations when a birth time is available
- Short educational notes on the calculated aspects — a starting point for reading, not a substitute for a full consultation
Birthplace search lets you pick a city instead of typing coordinates. If birth time is unknown, planet-to-planet transits still calculate; the Moon, Ascendant, and houses stay incomplete rather than filled in by guesswork.
How we think about a good transit reading
Your chart, not only the sky

One clear system
In practice that means starting with orbs inside about a degree, giving weight to Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto over a fleeting Moon contact, and reading the natal planet as the part of life being asked to respond. Hard aspects often show pressure first; trines and sextiles still matter when you are looking for support rather than crisis.
What this site is not
Transit Chart is an educational astrology tool. It is not medical, legal, financial, or psychological advice. Charts describe symbolic timing patterns used in Western astrology; they do not diagnose illness, predict guaranteed outcomes, or replace professional counsel in those fields.
It is also not every astrology technique in one place. The focus is transit-to-natal work in the tropical zodiac. Secondary progressions, solar returns, horary, and sidereal systems are not offered here.
